East Asian Civilizations Research Centre - CRCAO, UMR 8155
Founded in 2006, the East Asian Civilizations Research Centre (CRCAO, UMR 8155) is a CNRS Joint Research Unit, supervised by the École Pratique des Hautes Études (EPHE-PSL), the Collège de France, and Paris Cité University.
CRCAO's research activities cover all East Asian countries and address transnational issues. The Center, however, is structured into three teams:
The CRCAO's research covers a wide range of disciplines and all periods, from ancient to contemporary. A significant portion of its programs concerns the study of religions, history, archaeology, the arts, architecture and urban planning, literature, and thought from the classical, modern, and contemporary periods. The Center's programs focus particularly on primary sources (artifacts, inscriptions, manuscripts, editions, iconographic and archaeological documents).
