International Staff Researchers. Visitors (Free Movers)
The visiting staff researcher status (also known as visiting scholar) is intended for staff researchers and researchers employed or enrolled in a foreign higher education institution, as well as doctoral students who benefit from doctoral contract funding.
This status is intended for those who wish to undertake research and/or teaching activities at the École Pratique des Hautes Études-PSL.
This mobility occurs outside of any exchange program, which requires a framework cooperation agreement.
- Prerequisites:
- Be employed or enrolled at a foreign higher education institution throughout the duration of the stay in,
- Obtain prior agreement from their home institution,
- Hold an official invitation letter from the director of an EPHE-PSL unit (laboratory or research unit) that will host them.
Once these conditions have been met, the study stay project must be submitted to the International Relations Department of EPHE-PSL so that an individual hosting agreement for a research stay can be established.
This contractual document is signed by a doctoral student (provided they are the beneficiary of a doctoral contract), a researcher or staff researcher, their home institution and the École Pratique des Hautes Études-PSL. It provides legal support and status for the duration of the research and/or teaching stay.
- There are two versions of this agreement:
- The individual hosting agreement is intended for nationals of one of the Schengen area Member States which apply the principle of free movement of persons,
- The second individual hosting agreement, the “Préfecture de Police” is intended for nationals of a State not a member of the Schengen area and supports applications for the documents necessary for entry to and residence in French territory (visa and residence permit),
- This document is issued to doctoral students, researchers, or staff researchers hosted by EPHE-PSL to carry out research and/or teaching activities there for a period exceeding two months, provided their remuneration exceeds €1,415 net per month. It is only issued after acceptance by a staff researcher at EPHE-PSL.
Important: The conditions for entry and stay in France are the exclusive prerogative of the State.
