150 years of research

The EPHE-PSL, founded in 1868, is a major teaching and research institution that is unique in the French and international academic landscape. For more than 150 years, the EPHE has remained faithful to its original mission consisting in enriching the ecosystem of higher education and research with a new and effective model focused on learning research through the practice of research. A dynamic, international and exceptionally vibrant environment is thus fostered by the close link between attending in-depth research seminars and the practice of research in one of the EPHE-PSL's many laboratories and research centers.

The professors of the EPHE-PSL's three sections are now pursuing this exceptional mission thanks to a tight network of research units, Laboratories of Excellence (LabEx) and Scientific Interest Groups (SIG ) all working closely together.

Since 2008, the integration of the EPHE into PSL University has strengthened its excellence and synergy. Widely recognized as one of the world's leading research and teaching institutions, EPHE-PSL is deployed worldwide through its academic leadership and strategic partnerships. Alongside its vocation as a conservatory of languages and rare disciplines, the EPHE-PSL is also firmly committed to developing fundamental research and innovation, renewing knowledge and creating the latest cutting-edge tools.
