EPHE-PSL Publications
Since 1869, the EPHE-PSL has been publishing collections of books and scientific directories in a spirit of erudition and innovation. The EPHE-PSL editorial collection now includes more than 850 works in fields as varied as history, the study of religious facts, archaeology, philology, iconology, law, philosophy, art history, book history, ethnology, anthropology, sociology and linguistics, not to mention volumes intended for a wider audience, which address current social themes.
This vast collection now includes thirteen collections published in partnership with European private publishers (Droz, Champion, Brepols, Anacharsis), as well as on OpenEdition Journals and OpenEdition Books. To this should be added three series that are currently inactive, but in their time met particular editorial and scientific needs, and which enrich the heritage collection of EPHE-PSL publications: Hautes Études archéologiques et numismatiques, Hautes Études islamique et orientales d'histoire comparée and Hautes Études d'histoire contemporaine. Some of the old collections have been digitized and are accessible on Persée (EPHE yearbooks published before 2008), and on Gallica (volumes 1 to 104 of the BEHE-SR collection).
The series have received seminal works in their discipline, signed by scholars such as Gabriel Monod, Gaston Paris, Louis Renou, Antoine Meillet, André Chastel, Alexandre Koyré, Sylvain Lévi, Georges Dumézil, Marcel Granet and Gabriel Le Bras. The books are signed by some of the best French and foreign specialists: professors of the EPHE, former students of the EPHE, guest directors of studies.
The EPHE-PSL's publications department uses the Metopes structured publishing chain (Methods and Tools for Structured Publishing), which has become the reference tool for our publications: it allows a multiplicity of forms of dissemination, constitutes a factor in the interoperability of content and guarantees a certain durability of the data produced. Manuscripts published in the collections are reviewed by editorial boards and submitted to the scientific expertise of researchers specializing in the subject, internal or external to the EPHE-PSL.
