The EPHE-PSL Postdoctoral Diploma in Life and Earth Sciences is a highly specialized degree that recognizes original research conducted after the completion of a doctoral thesis. The duration of studies is normally two years.

It was designed as a step towards preparing for the Accreditation to Supervise Research (HDR), primarily for French PhDs, and as a recognition of post-doctoral work carried out within a French research team for foreign PhDs.

First-Time Registration

You must apply according to the following procedure:

Step1: Contact an EPHE-PSL Professor

At any time during the year, you can contact by email a Professor whose specialty is closely related to the theme of your research project.

You will briefly present your background, your motivations, and your research project. The Professor will inform you whether the degree you have chosen matches your profile.

Step 2: Apply

Applications open from July 1, 2025. Applications close on September 30, 2025.

Step 3: Register administratively

If the selection committee accepts your application, you will be invited to complete your administrative registration.

Re-Register

Administrative registration is mandatory and annual. You can register via your student portal.

A postdoctoral fellowship is a highly specialized degree for young researchers focused on a specific field of research, conducted after the defense of a thesis. Upon completion of the postdoctoral fellowship, young researchers can enter the professional world of business, research, or teaching.

At the EPHE-PSL, the internationalization of our courses means that every student has the opportunity to undertake a study or internship mobility program.

The International Relations Department assists students in defining and implementing their projects, identifying the most appropriate financial instruments and schemes.

Holder of the “Welcome to France” label and the Erasmus+ 2021-2027 charter, the EPHE-PSL has also been welcoming a large and growing number of international students for many years.
