Biogeosciences - UMR 6282

With approximately 150 members, Biogeosciences is a Joint Research Unit with its primary oversight bodies being the Université Bourgogne Europe and the French National Center for Scientific Research (Ecology and Environment and Earth and Universe institutes), and its secondary oversight body being the École Pratique des Hautes Études (EPHE-PSL).

Biogeosciences is a multi- and interdisciplinary research unit built around five scientific teams. These teams conduct research deeply rooted in fields such as evolutionary ecology, environmental sciences, sedimentology, paleontology, and climatology. These research teams are supported by a range of analytical, administrative, and logistical services and draw on the analytical resources of the GISMO platform.

Fundamentally multi- and interdisciplinary, Biogeosciences studies the mechanisms of global, climatic, and anthropogenic changes, and their impacts and interactions with the environment, biodiversity, and society. The unit's strength lies in its ability to address these issues in an integrated manner. It also aims to be a driving force for proposals and contributes to current academic and societal debates surrounding these issues.
