Social and Financial Support

Emergency Financial Assistance

If you are experiencing financial hardship or facing unexpected expenses, you may apply for one-time financial assistance from EPHE-PSL. This support is funded by the Student Solidarity and Initiative Development Fund (FSDIE). Two application periods are generally offered each year, in February and November.

Applications are reviewed by the social workers of CROUS, who assess the student’s social and financial situation. The amount of aid awarded varies depending on individual circumstances and available funding.

Only students officially enrolled at EPHE-PSL (having paid the CVEC and tuition fees) are eligible to apply for social assistance.

To apply, please complete the form below. The application and supporting documents must be submitted by email as a single PDF file to the Student Life Office.

Financial Support for Student Projects

Through the Student Solidarity and Initiative Development Fund (FSDIE), EPHE-PSL provides financial support for student-led initiatives aimed at developing a wide range of projects. These may include cultural activities (artistic, scientific outreach, etc.), solidarity actions, civic engagement, environmental preservation, sports, health, and student life events—this list is not exhaustive.

Projects must not involve academic research or be conducted as part of a formal course unit.

To be eligible for funding (two calls for proposals per year, as with emergency financial aid), applicants must meet the following criteria:
• Be enrolled at EPHE-PSL (in either formal or continuing education),
• Be affiliated with a student association,
• Propose a project that will be completed before the end of the academic year. Undertaking such a project offers a unique opportunity to broaden and diversify your skills and may be considered an asset within your academic training.

Applications must be submitted via the FSDIE – Student Projects form (available below). The completed application and supporting documents must be sent by email as a single PDF attachment to the Student Life Office.

You are encouraged to seek guidance from the Student Life Office when preparing your project and application.

Tuition Fee Exemption Request – Academic Year 2025–2026

As part of the “Bienvenue en France” initiative and the implementation of differentiated tuition fees for national master’s degrees, the EPHE Board of Directors, in its meeting of December 10, 2020, decided to partially exempt all non-EU international students, allowing them to pay the same tuition fees as domestic students. This partial exemption applies for the entire duration of the degree program.

Furthermore, in its meeting of June 22, 2023, the EPHE-PSL Board of Directors established exemption criteria granting full tuition exemption to students who are refugees, beneficiaries of subsidiary protection, or whose parent or legal guardian holds such status. This full exemption is granted by decision of the President at the time of administrative registration, for up to three years of enrollment in a master’s program, subject to regular attendance, completion of mandatory internships, and participation in examinations for re-enrollment.

Students who do not qualify for full or partial exemption and who are facing exceptional personal hardship (e.g., financial insecurity, family issues, job loss) may submit a request for full exemption to the President of EPHE-PSL. Applications will be reviewed by the exemption committee based on the following criteria: the student’s income, parental income, personal and family circumstances, and academic progress.
