This collection is one of the oldest continuous French series of works on humanities.

Published since 1968, this series offers studies covering a wide chronology and geographical area, from ancient Egypt to contemporary Japan. It is divided into two distinct geographical series, “Middle and Near East” and “Far East”.

This series has been published continuosly since 1965. The social, political and economic organization of Ancient Greece and Rome, as well as their history, geography and linguistic diversity are approached through monographs and collective works.

This series has been published since 1964. It provides a chronological overview of more than a thousand years, from Late Antiquity to the dawn of the 19th century, by way of the French and European Central Middle Ages.

Our idea was to publish, in a popular scholarly form, the French version of texts of all kinds, coming from the most diverse cultures, in a form that would appeal to a broad audience, with a clear, high-level introduction and explanatory notes.

The EPHE-PSL also publishes works outside its established series, exploring its long academic and scientific history through portraits of its scholars and its links with other institutions.
