Near East – Caucasus - PROCLAC, UMR 7192

PROCLAC Laboratory (Near East – Caucasus: Languages, Archaeology, Cultures) is supported by the CNRS, the EPHE-PSL, and the Collège de France, where it is hosted. Its research covers a wide area—from the Mediterranean to the Caucasus—and spans over a long time—from protohistory to the present day.

PROCLAC's research programs, starting in 2025, are divided into three thematic areas, seeking a balance between individual research and collective priorities:

- "History of the Book and Digital Humanities." Director: François Déroche
- "Historical Geography." Directors: Jean-Charles Ducène and Nele Ziegler
- "Regional Cultures." Director: Christophe Nicolle

The laboratory practices a multidisciplinary approach, thanks to the expertise of its members in numerous fields of the humanities and social sciences: archaeology, linguistics, philology, codicology, history, geography, literature, history of the book, cultural and intellectual history, history of religions, etc. The researchers are organized into four cultural and geographical teams:

- Mesopotamian Worlds
- Biblical and Northwest Semitic Studies
- Medieval and Modern Islam
- Turkish and Caucasian Studies
