Institute for Advanced Biosciences - IAB, UMR_S 1209/UMR 5309
The Institute for Advanced Biosciences (IAB) is an internationally renowned research center dedicated to fundamental and translational biomedical biology, based in Grenoble. It comprises 18 multidisciplinary teams, representing approximately 350 researchers and staff members. The research conducted at the IAB aims to elucidate how the environment, at all levels—chemical, metabolic, physical, cellular, microbiotic, and immunological—influences and reprograms the epigenome, cellular plasticity, and tissue organization. By integrating expertise spanning the entire biological continuum, from the molecular to the population level, the institute pursues a common goal: to improve human health through a deeper understanding of the interactions between the environment and biological systems.
