Center for Turkish, Ottoman, Balkan and Central Asian Studies - CETOBAC, UMR 8032

CETOBaC, a research unit under the triple supervision of the CNRS, the EHESS and the Collège de France, is a unique area studies research center in Europe dedicated to Turkish, Ottoman, Balkan, and Central Asian studies.

It examines the past and present of Turkic-speaking populations, as well as their political, economic, and cultural interactions with neighboring societies, across a region spanning Turkey, former Ottoman territories, and Central Asia, with extensions toward Iran, Afghanistan, China, and Central and Eastern Europe.

The richness of its research lies in the historical and contemporary centrality of this region at the crossroads of European and Asian worlds.
