Zaira Khalilova is a research scientist at the Institute of Linguistics of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Moscow, focusing on morphosyntax of the Tsezic languages. Khalilova was a PhD student at the Max Planck Institute of Evolutionary Anthropology in Leipzig under the supervision of Bernard Comrie. In 2009 she successfully defended her thesis with the title “A grammar of Khwarshi”. Since 2005 Zaira Khalilova has conducted extensive linguistic fieldwork in Daghestan.
