Herpetological Collection


This collection of major scientific value consists of an impressive herpetological collection (batrachian, snake, reptile, turtle and physiological tissues) preserved in alcohol. This collection is accompanied by printed works (monographs, reviews, theses and dissertations) used for its documentation and, more generally, for herpetological research.

The Collection in figures:

- 10,823 samples
- the second largest herpetological collection in France after the MNHN (National Museum of Natural History)
- approximately 4,000 jars (96% ethanol)
- approximately 550 taxa, collected between 1849 and 2010
- 2 paratypes
- a database that is constantly updated and circulated.
